Titanium dioxide production process
Time: 2023-07-26

Titanium dioxide production process mainly includes sulfuric acid production process and chlorination production process. The production process of titanium dioxide by sulfuric acid method is to produce titanous sulfate by acid hydrolysis reaction of ferrotitanium powder and concentrated sulfuric acid, and then to produce metataric acid by hydrolysis, and then to obtain titanium dioxide products by calcination and grinding. Anatase and rutile titanium dioxide can be produced by this method. The advantage of sulfuric acid process is that it can take ilmenite and sulfuric acid as raw materials with low price and easy to obtain, the technology is relatively mature, the equipment is simple and the anti-corrosion material is easy to solve. Its disadvantage is that the process is long, can only be mainly intermittent operation, wet operation, high consumption of sulfuric acid and water, waste and by-products, and large pollution to the environment. Chlorination process The chlorination process of titanium dioxide production process is to mix rutile or high titanium slag powder with coke for high temperature chlorination to produce titanium tetrachloride, high temperature oxidation, and then filtered, washed, dried, and crushed titanium dioxide products. Chlorination titanium dioxide production process can only produce rutile type products. The advantages of chlorination process are short process, easy to expand production capacity, high degree of continuous automation, relatively low energy consumption, less "three wastes", and can get high-quality products. Its disadvantages are large investment, complex equipment structure, high material requirements, high temperature and corrosion resistance, difficult maintenance of the device, and difficult research and development
